The Frustration of Near
Mello looks right pissed off when he gets home that afternoon. The gun’s pulled from his belt, thrown violently at the bench. “Damn Near!” He kicks at the cupboards. “Damn Kira! Why the fuck can’t anything be easy?”

“Hard day, I take it,” Matt says, finding himself a save point so he can turn his attention to Mello.

“Don’t even start. God, I wish I’d just shot him and it would all be over.”

“Who’s that?”

“That white-haired freak is who.”

“Stupid question.” Matt puts down his controller. “So what stopped you?”

“I don’t have a death wish. Unfortunately.”

None of That PVC Crap for Him
It’s the first time Mello’s bought clothes for himself, and he knows what he wants - what he craves, after years told ‘no’.

Leather: tight black pants; suede underside on a fur collar; shiny boots lacing up to infinity.

He unfolds his packages and oh, that smell is half the pleasure. Nothing like it - except maybe the feel of it: rough and raw, or tanned bright - still you see the tiny creases if you look close enough. And how many animals died that he could outfit himself thus, he doesn’t care.

What Mello cares is that from now on, he choose.
